Be Kind

Charity. Of all our feelings, kindness is the feeling which brings most happiness to others and to ourselves. It is a way of showing our love. Long ago the word charity meant "kindness." Even now, when charity means giving to the poor, it stills shows kindness of the heart. Kindenss or charity of the heart is most important. Saint Paul, the apstle, said: "And though I bestow all my goods to fed the poor,...and have not charity, it profited me nothing." "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these charity.
By "charity," Saint Paul meant kindness of the heart. Kindness overcomes thoughtlessness, cruelty, greediness, and all other selfish faults.
The Golden Rule
. "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you." Memorize this Golden Rule, nad when you have learned to obey it, you will be suprised to see how quickly others wil return your kindness.

There are many ways of being kind. The best way is to try to understand what others want, and to give it to them. When a new studentcomes to your school and find himself standing alone and embarrased, think how you would feel if you were in his place. You would not want the girls and boys to stare or laughat you. Then do not stare and laugh at him. You would like someone to come up to you in friendly, natural way. Then be friendly and natural with the stranger.
Do not laugh at another person's pain. If you fell down and hurt yourself, you would not like to see your friends laughing. You would want them to help you an to understand. When you see another in pain, offer your help at once. Be kind and try to understand.
Kindness to animals. Perhaps the worst kind of unkindness is cruelty to animalds . Animals help us in many ways; they give us food, clothing. and service. Yet we are often unkind anbd cruel to them in return. When a person suffers, he can always speak and express his pain. But nwhen an animals suffers he cannot tell his master what is wrong. He is defenseless. To be cruel or carelless isa sign of ignorance.
